Trips & External Experiences
At DIS, the learning extends beyond the classroom setting and into the real world!
DIS Trips Program
As part of its Pillar of Global Citizenship, DIS offers several opportunities to travel both in country and abroad. The emphasis of these travel experiences is to reinforce and support classroom curriculum with real world exposure.

Last March, an SES 10th-grade team represented DIS during the Start-up Lycée Competition held in San Francisco from March 18-22. Our students performed exceptionally and captivated a jury composed of highly influential figures in the worlds of business based in the Silicon Valley. This experience was a real springboard for our students, allowing them not only to showcase their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit but also to engage with thought leaders. |

Career Observation
At DIS we believe in the power of real world experiences. Each year our 10th grade students have the opportunity to participate in Career Observation Week! Students spend a week at an area business, learning first-hand about various career paths. Students gained real world experience by creating a resume to showcase themselves to their observation firm. They were able to shadow various personnel at the firms they visited and learn about the corporate structure and various career opportunities in that environment. At the conclusion of their observation week, students presented their experience. All participants learned a tremendous amount and are very grateful for the experiences they shared.

Global Exchange
During the spring semester, 10th-grade students at Dallas International School have the unique opportunity to participate in an exchange program with students from international schools abroad. Each student is matched with a peer and hosts them for six weeks, sharing their home and attending classes together at Dallas International School. Following this immersive experience, the students travel to their match’s home country, where they live with their host family and attend school there. This program not only forges meaningful connections between students but also promotes a deeper appreciation for the culture, language, and traditions of each host country.
