Why an International School?

Do children need French Language ability to apply?
Applicants do not need to have any prior exposure to French in order to apply to EC2, EC3, EC4, Kindergarten/GS. For first - third grade, children with no French language experience may join our French Language Immersion Program. Children in grades 5-12 may join our International Program taught in english.
What are the age cut-off dates for EC and Kindergarten?
Early Childhood grades include TPS/EC2 (must be 2 years old by September 1 of entry year), PS/EC3 (must be 3 years old by December 31 of entry year), MS/EC4 (must be 4 years old by December 31 of entry year) and GS/Kindergarten must be 5 years old by December 31 of entry year). The school follows a calendar year birthday cut-off as in France (December 31st); however, Early Childhood applicants, with the exception of TPS/EC2, have the option of applying and using the Texas birthday cut-off (September 1st).

Does my child need to be potty trained?
TPS/EC2 students do not need to be potty-trained. PS/EC3 children must be fully potty-trained in order to start school in August. Applicants will be evaluated prior to being offered enrollment.
What are the school hours?
School hours for EC2 and EC3 are 9 am to 3 pm (8:45-3 pm for EC4 and 8:30-3:30 pm for Kindergarten). Before care is offered from 7:30 am until class time, free of charge. After care, along with after school activities, is offered from 3 pm to 6 pm.
School hours for grades 1 through 4 are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Before care is offered from 7:30 am until class time, free of charge. After care, along with after school activities, is offered from 3:30 pm to 6 pm.
Grade 5-8, school hours are 8:15 am to 3:25 pm. Students can be dropped off starting at 7:30 am, free of charge. After school studying and activities are offered from 3:30 pm to 6 pm. High school classes may end as late as 5:30.
Can high school students drive themselves to school?
Yes, there are dedicated parking spots for high school students that are licensed drivers at our Waterview campus. Please contact dean@dallasinternationalschool.org for more information and parking permit.
