The French Program for grades 9 through 12 at Dallas International School is the pathway to the prestigious French Baccalauréate diploma. The French Baccalaureate (FB) is an internationally recognized diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to mark the successful completion of high school. DIS students receive this diploma in addition to the DIS high school diploma. In recent years, 100% of DIS students have passed the French Baccalaureate exam, with most students receiving the FB diploma with honors or high honors.
In 9th grade, DIS French Program students take the Brevet Exam, and receive this special diploma issued by the French Ministry of Education at a special on campus ceremony.
To earn the IB Diploma, students must complete courses from six subject groups and complete three compulsory core requirements (i.e., theory of knowledge course; the extended essay; and creativity, activity, service). Unique among IB Diploma Programs in our region, the majority of IB graduates at DIS earn the IB Bilingual Diploma, demonstrating native-level competency in at least two languages. Moreover, DIS is in a small group of schools worldwide to offer students access to the Advanced Bilingual IB Diploma, which requires native-level competency in English and French, plus the completion of academic subjects in both languages.
Students participate in Career Observation Week in 10th grade.
High School Students at DIS work with College Counselors to prepare them for what comes next.
HS students have the opportunity to join the aviation program at DIS, regardless of their chosen degree path.
The DIS High School Experience balances a robust classroom curriculum with external experiences like Career Observation Week, Global Exchange Program, out of city competitions and International Trips. These experiences are available in both the French and International Tracks.
