STEAM

STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ART, MATHEMATICS)

It's STEM with an Artistic flair!

STEAM is the connection between the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. The knowledge and skills of each of these subjects is essential. Combining them into an interdisciplinary approach brings together all of the core subjects students learn and applies them to real-world applications.

The STEAM programs at DIS start in the lower grades. Students learn basic computer skills starting in Kindergarten. Common skills such as keyboarding are taught early, as well as document and presentation suites, multimedia tools, and safe Internet search. The STEAM lab at our Churchill Way campus has opened up new opportunities for our students. Robotics, life sciences, and engineering are some of the disciplines that are introduced to our younger students.

Technology classes, Computer Science, Programming, and Engineering continue into the Middle and High School grades. As part of the Diplôme national du brevet exam at the end of 9th grade in our French Baccalaureate track, Technology is one of the main subject areas that are part of the exam. Coding, robotics, 3D design, engineering projects are offered to students interested in the applied sciences.
