IB Career-related Program

IB Career-related Program

Dallas International School (DIS) is the only school in the DFW Metroplex that is officially authorized to offer the prestigious International Baccalaureate Career-related Program (IB CP).

The IB Career-related Program is designed to equip students with academic and practical skills to prepare them for further studies and entry into the modern workforce. It integrates the values of the IB into a holistic education model, fostering lifelong learning, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. The program is ideal for students who wish to pursue a specific career path while maintaining academic flexibility and transferable skills.

As an IB World School in Dallas, Texas, DIS has provided students with the opportunity to earn the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma for more than 20 years. In addition, DIS is among the few schools in the region that offers students the opportunity to earn the Bilingual IB Diploma and is one of only 25 schools worldwide to offer the Advanced Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma. With the addition of the IB Career-related Program, DIS further expands the pathways available to students as they prepare for their future academic and professional pursuits.

The IB Career-related Program (CP) is a two-year educational framework designed for students in 11th and 12th grades. The program combines the academic rigor and global perspective of IB courses with career-focused learning, preparing students for higher education, internships, professional certification programs, and employment opportunities.

DIS is launching its first CP pathways in two disciplines:

  • Aviation: provides students with the opportunity to gain specialized technical knowledge and industry-relevant skills while completing their high school education. DIS utilizes AOPA Foundation High School Aviation Stem Curriculum for its Aviation Program.
  • Information Systems: provides structured courses in computer applications, networking, digital technology, and career-focused skills, aligning with CompTIA certifications and national standards.

Through the Aviation pathway, students may have opportunities to pursue credentials such as a private small single engine pilot or as a sUAS (small uncrewed aircraft systems) pilot (i.e. drones).

Note: While DIS provides Part 107 of the certification, all paid Commercial Drone Operators must additionally achieve FAA certification outside of DIS.
