College Counseling

Personalized College Counseling throughout high school

DIS high school students benefit from our in-house College Counseling staff, who work with students beginning in 9th grade to create focused plans designed to help them successfully enter the college or university of their choice.

Ninth and 10th grade students are given a variety of presentations and information to help them begin to prepare for the college admissions process. For Juniors and Seniors, weekly meetings with one of our counselors is part of the weekly class schedule. Our staff has considerable experience and knowledge of institutions of higher learning not only in the United States, but around the world, as well.

In fact, one of the key advantages to an international education at DIS is access to faculty, staff and students from more than 40 countries, each with unique knowledge and connections that extend far beyond the United States, Canada and Europe, but also to institutions throughout Asia and Latin America.

DIS counselors tailor the college admission process by creating a four-year high school plan focusing on developing each student’s interests and strengths. Through in-depth discussions, developing and evaluating valuable strategies, and navigating the application process, we ensure that students are delighted with their college choice not only on the day they receive their admission decision but for the next four years and beyond.

Each year, we host dozens of leading colleges and universities for student meetings on our campus. Top academic institutions from around the world understand the value of having our multilingual, intercultural students on their campus.

Our college counseling team offers a highly individualized approach that discovers each student's hopes, dreams, interests, and strengths. The process helps enhance each student's story to grab admission officers’ attention while also helping shape their passion for learning and enriching their future contributions to the world of academia and the global community.
