At DIS, our mission as a community is to "inspire students to become multilingual global citizens who pursue a lifelong journey of discovery and action where the quest for deep academic knowledge and an appreciation of world cultures contribute to the advancement of humanity." Our educators work hand-in-hand with DIS families to deliver the best international education in North Texas. We enjoy strong participation in school life from parents and guardians, and we foster an environment in which each person is welcomed as a valued member of our growing community.
Founded in 1991, our school has a distinctive historical identity and combines a rigorous educational program—rooted in inquiry and critical thinking—with an emphasis on intercultural competency through multilingualism. With French and English at the center of our education, together with Spanish, Mandarin, and German, DIS students develop genuinely international perspectives. From our early childhood classes through 12th grade, we promote a culture of academic excellence and authentic learning experiences, nourished through a close-knit community of learners committed to empathy, integrity, resilience, respect, and responsibility.
A DIS education imparts a sense of the crucial importance of seeking to be academically ambitious, socially responsible, and internationally-minded. With dual accreditation through the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and the French Ministry of Education’s Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), we are the only institution in North Texas whose curriculum offers access to the French Baccalaureate, the IB Diploma, and an accredited US high school diploma. What’s more, DIS is one of only a handful of schools in the world where students may earn the IB’s Advanced Bilingual Diploma. We are supported by the French Secular Mission (Mission Laïque Française or MLF) and work in partnership with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) to enhance our international academics at all grade levels.
Outside of academics, students enjoy further learning through our athletics program, study abroad opportunities, daily afterschool activities, as well our seasonal camps. Whether students are learning on the field, in the art studio, in our STEAM labs, or in another country, authenticity in learning is at the heart of all we do. By turning theory into practice through the application of knowledge and skills from the classroom to real world contexts, DIS learners graduate from our school as confident global citizens ready to contribute to our shared world through the advancement of humanity.
