Weekly School Updates

Dear Waterview Community,

We hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Weekend. This short week of school was definitely a busy one. We’re wrapping up the academic side of things with class councils for every class on Waterview, and making sure the students have some fun together before they all disperse for the summer. 

Class Councils
Thanks to all the representatives who gave of their time to share feedback at these meetings. We appreciate our room parents and student delegates very much and I can assure you that we take your suggestions to heart. We are proud of our students’ achievements over the course of the year and it was great to hear from all the teachers, both FB and IB, during these class councils. 

French Bac Exams 
In the French system, the 11th graders take their final French exams in May, so in 12th grade they take Philosophy instead. Our 11th graders have just finished their written component and have the big oral coming up. We wish them all the very best!

Concours de Cartographie 
The results of the younger students’ cartography contest are on the website and we would like to congratulate Henri de Besombes for coming 14th in this global competition. Pizza Party for the Winning House
And the winner is….MONET. Well done to all the students who participated in the activities and quizzes set up by Mme. Damour, our student life coordinator. You were able to collect enough points to earn a pizza party on Friday June 3, at lunch time. Our house system is intended to foster school spirit, and you showed that you have plenty of that! Well done!
 
Room Parent Appreciation Tea
On Friday, June 3, DIS welcomed the room parents to a special event to thank them for all their time and dedication to our school. We sincerely appreciate everything these parents have done over the past year and we wanted to honor them. A huge thank you to you all! 
 
End of the Year
We put the outline of the last week of school in a previous letter, but just a reminder that the Boum is this Friday, June 3, from 7-9pm. Carpool for Waterview on June 8 is at 12:30pm. The shuttle bus will leave Waterview for Churchill at 12:15pm. CM2 Graduation is on Monday, June 6, and the Senior Graduation is on June 8. We are looking forward to these meaningful moments together as we mark the end of an era for your children. 
 
And that’s it for now. Next week is another short one for the students and we know they are all looking forward to the summer.
