Please email me your questions and suggestions - the library is always a work in progress. It will evolve as a function of student and faculty needs, courses offered, technology advances, trends, and the passage of time...

DIS students reading in the upper campus library.

This is a small space for a lot of learners. My goal is to balance space for quality print resources with plenty of quiet, comfortable space for reading and studying. I am available by appointment for assistance with research and information literacy guidance, especially for teachers who would like to discuss incorporating these facets of education into their courses.

Library Organization

  • Library is split into two halves: Fiction and Non-Fiction.
  • Fiction sorted by author’s last name.
  • Non-fiction sorted following Dewey Decimal system (chart forthcoming) - Philosophy, Social Sciences, Economics & Business, Folk tales and legends, Fashion, Linguistics/language study, Science (Earth sciences, Space, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Human body, Animals, etc), Art (Fine Arts, Photography, Drawing, Cinema), Essays/letters, Theater/Drama, History and Geography.

Some Current Projects

  • Reconstituting the print collection after the library was dismantled for renovations this summer (almost done…)
  • Clearly labeling all areas in the library for ease of use.
  • Completing design / arrangement of designated high school study space on west end of library
  • Acquiring book display hardware for wall mounting and surface display
  • Moving “class sets” of books to new library storage room (519); creating browsable online inventory for teachers. Mostly French and English titles.
  • Sorting excess textbooks by class subject, and storing in new textbook storage room on 5th floor. Removing textbooks from the 5th floor that are no longer needed and can be donated/recycled - pending approval from department heads, etc. Withdrawing all textbooks from library online catalog, as textbook ownership and responsibility is under purview of departments, beginning 2024-2025 school year.
  • Cataloging old issues of French reading magazines (e.g. Je Bouquine, Images Doc, etc.) so that teachers can search indexes for texts/activities/articles on relevant topics.
