Adult Education

While the Dallas International School focuses on educating children, The Language Institute specializes in adult language education via corporate programs, private lessons, and small group classes. Regular courses in French, Spanish, and English as a Second Language are offered on our Dallas campus for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. Additional languages may be offered, based on demand. Emphasis is placed on conversation and comprehension skills.

  • Summer Language Workshops

These intensive Summer Language Workshops for adults are held simultaneously with the Summer Enrichment Camp for children and teens.
This program is open to all adults whether they have children attending camp or not. However, it is more particularly a wonderful opportunity for those parents whose children attend camp to bond with them as they share in the experience of learning a new language.
The Intensive Language Workshops for adults are taught by native speakers and focus on the development of conversational skills.
The small group setting encourages continuous interaction between the learners and the instructor.

  • Group Language Classes

Our regular group classes for adults typically meet once per week in sessions running for up to 12 weeks. The languages currently offered are Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish and English for non-native speakers. We keep our groups small for more efficiency.

This class level focuses on the acquisition of basic communication skills. After completing four sessions students are able to carry simple conversations, read easy books and write informal letters.

Students learn to use present, past and future tenses of regular and irregular verbs in every day conversation situations. Articles from the press are used to debate on cultural or social issues.

This class level focuses on the development of advanced conversational skills, the use of idiomatic expressions and complex structures.

  • Private Language Classes

    Private Classes
Private classes consist of a series of 10 customized one-on-one sessions that may be scheduled at the student's convenience, mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends. These classes offer the advantage of being tailored to the student's learning style and fitted to his/her availability. In addition, the student has the freedom to cancel a class without being charged for it, provided we are notified before 6 pm the day prior to the class.

    Semi-Private Classes (2 students)
Semi-private classes combine the flexibility of a private class with some of the interaction opportunities found in a group class. For more efficiency, the two students must have the same level of language capability and the same learning style.
  • Intensive Language Classes

Intensive Language Workshops consist of 36 hours of fast-paced group classes. These workshops are offered at three levels of fluency. Level 1 is for learners with basic previous exposure to the language chosen; levels 2 and 3 are for continuing students. The classes are held during the week in the morning or in the evening and on Saturday mornings. The weekday morning classes meet twice a week from 9:00 to 12:00. The evening classes meet twice a week from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The weekend classes meet every Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00. The students are encouraged to use the target language to communicate in these highly interactive classes. Please check our schedule for updated information on the sessions.
