What's Been Happening
In the Library, the CM1 is working on their story box project. In French, this is called 'Boîtes à histoires'. This project is a beloved tradition at DIS where students tell stories using props and characters. Each story box is made from scratch and then presented to other classes.
The CE1, CE2 B, and the immersion class had the opportunity to visit the classical radio station 101.1 WRR FM studio. Students got an inside peek and how web radio works from WRR radio host Amy Bishop. The DIS web radio program, a media educational program, returned this year to the school to help children develop transferable skills and become discerning citizens who can better navigate a world inundated by vast amounts of often contradictory information. Thank you to WRR FM and Amy Bishop for this exciting educational experience.
“While we do not see your capes or masks, we see your superpowers every day! Thank you to the faculty and staff at DIS, who embodies all of the attributes of superheroes! We are grateful for you.” -PTO
The CE1 classes enjoyed a special cooking project with L'Auberge du Lac. Our students learned to cook "Parmentier de bœuf" and "Madeleines" online with Chef Josely and Pastry Chef Emilie from Luxembourg. They shared the meal and dessert with the student's family, and they were all proud of the achievement. Bon appétit!
Our 10th grade student interns explored their field of interest this week with a unique hands-on program offered through the school. A special thanks to the professionals who welcomed our students and helped provide this fruitful opportunity.
A group of 2nd, 3rd grade and immersion students at Churchill have been working hard for the last few weeks to produce their first radio program this year, which was recorded on Wednesday. Their special guest was Dr. Josep González, our Head of School, who was interviewed live by two of the children.
