Graduating Seniors Celebrate Acknowledgement of Nationally Recognized Merit Honors in Prestigious Scholarship Competitions
The Dallas International School graduating class of 2021 celebrates three National Merit Commended Scholars this year. The National Merit Scholarship Program is a prestigious scholarship competition that annually recognizes exceptional talent, awarding scholarships to students striving to attend the best universities across the country. In September, high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT receive Letters of Commendation in recognition for their outstanding academic promise. These Commended Scholars are named based on their ranking using a nationally applied selection index score. This year, Andrew Nguyen, Claire Pettit and Russell Ramsay have been named as Commended Scholars.
The DIS 2021 graduating class also celebrates four National Hispanic Scholars through the National Hispanic Recognition Program this year. Administered by the College Board and Scholarship America, the National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes approximately 5,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors each year from among the 400,000 juniors who take the PSAT. As with the National Merit Scholarship Program, NHRP uses the junior PSAT/NMSQT scores as qualifying criteria for those named winners. This year, Russell Ramsay, Camille Hernandez, Spencer Gray and David Martinez have been named National Hispanic Scholars.
