Dallas International School Student Selected for American Legion Boys State
After a grueling application and interview process, Dallas International School would like to congratulate 11th grade IB student, Spencer Gray, on being selected for the American Legion Boys State program this year. The American Legion Boys State program is one of the most respected and selective education programs for American high school students. Founded in Paris after World War I, the American Legion is an organization of US veterans that actively lobbies on behalf of the interests of veterans and service members. The American Legion has sponsored Boys State since its inception in the 1930s. Boys State alumni include numerous state representatives, congressmen, CEOs, community leaders and most US presidents since the organization’s founding.
When asked to describe how he felt about this tremendous opportunity, Spencer exclaimed, “I am very excited to have been selected. Boys State seems amazing. Top student leaders in all 50 states assemble annually in the summer between their junior and senior year. In general, I am drawn to any program that focuses on leadership development, and I knew that Boys State is one of the most established and recognized programs in the nation. I will be with an incredible group of bright, young leaders who were chosen from across Texas. I look forward to sharing the details with DIS after I experience the Texas Boys State convention, and I hope this becomes a new tradition at Dallas International School after I graduate.” It is with great pride that we acknowledge Spencer for this amazing honor.
