Hand Washing with Nurse Phil

School Nurse at Dallas International School, Philemon Nichol, has been hard at work even before the pandemic struck to ensure students are properly educated on the importance of hand washing and proper hygiene.

Nurse Phil has provided a video link to give students an idea of how germs (black pepper in this case) sit on a surface or object (water in the video). With the use of anti-bacterial soap, the germs are repelled immediately from the soap-covered surface. So please, get in the habit of washing your hands regularly.

Respiratory viruses like the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) are contracted when the virus enters the body through the eyes, nose and throat, and Nurse Phil wants DIS students to be cautious and thorough when washing their hands as the virus continues to plague the world.

Nurse Phil has been providing the community with health updates and helpful tips, and remains available for all faculty, parents and students who have questions or concerns regarding the current COVID-19 outbreak. Nurse Phil advises, “All families should continue to self-quarantine and operate with the utmost care during these times. Constant, thorough hand washing and avoiding touching your face are the two most important things we can do right now.”
