Required Equipment (Practice)

• Swimsuit (Required Everyday)

  • (Boys) Speedo or well-fitted swim trunks.

  • (Girls) - One piece swimsuit

• Latex or Silicone Swim cap (Required Everyday)

• Water bottle or Sports Drink of Choice (No Glass Bottles) (Required Everyday)

  • Please make sure the bottle includes a name or is easily distinguishable from other bottles.

• Pull-board (I Recommend looking for an ergonomic board to prevent shoulder strain and potential injuries)

• Kick-board (Required Everyday)

• Swim goggles (Required Everyday)

• Towel (Required Everyday)

• Swim fins (I will post in the coach's corner and let swimmers know in advance when these are required)

• Practice Bag (Required Everyday)

  • Please note: When the new team store page becomes available, it will contain an option to buy a DIS branded swim bag with our logo on it. If this is something you are interested in, I would recommend using an old duffle or swim bag in the meantime to prevent buying two new bags this season.

Swimmer (Equipment Expectations)

• All Swimmers are expected to have obtained all required practice gear by 8/27/21

  • (Parents, please reach out to me directly at eford@dallasinternationalschool.org if you find that you need more time to obtain the required equipment list. This helps me make sure we have enough borrowed equipment available and ready for swimmers to use at practice when needed)

• Swimmers are responsible for making sure they bring all of their required equipment to every practice.

Equipment Tips & Advice

• Wear sandals ("Flip flops") to practice and competitions to avoid having to put on tennis shoes with wet feet after swimming

• Keep an extra pair of goggles and an extra swim cap in your bag in case your primary goggles/swim cap break right before a meet or practice.

  • (I recommend buying the same style of backup goggles as your primary pair, so swimmers are already used to the feel of their goggles in case a quick transition during a meet or practice occurs)

• To help extend the life of swim goggles and for easier adjustments consider replacing the original goggle strap with a bungee cord (Ex. TYR Bungee Strap)

• (This is especially helpful with younger or novice swimmers that find it difficult to find the right fit with their goggles.
