Pre-IBDP Program

• DIS is one of a select international schools around the world to offer the IB Advanced Bilingual Diploma (ABD) in French. 
• Strong focus on bilingualism, to become bilingual speakers and writers, as well as critical and open-minded readers. To develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people, who will help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To achieve this, DIS fosters a love of lifelong learning and presents a varied curriculum that is dedicated to the acquisition of both knowledge and perspective. To foster the development of the necessary analytical and critical thinking skills of our students.
• DIS provides language instruction in French, English, Spanish, Chinese and German. DIS is the only private school in Dallas to offer a bilingual education from age 2 through 12th grade, with graduates earning either the French Baccalaureate, Advanced Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma, Bilingual International Baccalaureate Diploma, or International Baccalaureate Diploma.
• Our DIS Community is international, with families hailing from over 50 countries.
• All of our teachers instruct in their mother tongue language.
• DIS organizes international trips for students starting in 3rd grade.
• The small number of students in each class allows the teachers to focus more on personal development of the individual student.
• Cultural diversity is celebrated through Country of the Year, class trips and the International Exchange Program. As part of the French school network and IB World Schools network, DIS students are able to study for up to six weeks at one of our partner schools around the world.

 

To apply at DIS in 9th Pre-IBDP

• Send your report card from 7th and 8th grade and a motivation letter.
• Once the application is completed, a scheduled interview with the IB Coordinator and the Head of Secondary will be conducted either in-person at our Waterview Campus or via video conference. 
• The Director of Admissions will schedule a meeting with the applicant’s parents and conduct a tour. 
• Applicants will be required to take and pass tests in specific subject areas such as English, Mathematics, and Foreign Languages.

 
To apply at DIS in 10th Pre-IBDP

• Send your report card from 9th grade and a motivation letter.

*The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability. It describes language ability on a six-point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language. Prerequisite to be admitted in the 9preIBDP Bilingual preparation program is B2 level.

B2 Level: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
