High School: Off-Campus Learning

Dallas International School works through its global network of sister schools to send students on exchange trips around the globe. As part of this network, DIS also welcomes students from other countries to Dallas to study and take part in our school community.

Families house these students and help them integrate into daily life in America. The same is done for those DIS students that travel to Spain, France, Taiwan and the many other locations that are available to them.

At the beginning of the school year, all high school juniors and seniors take a mandatory trip to a retreat center in the DFW area. During this three day, two night retreat, the main teachers, IB and FB coordinators, and the college counselor facilitate various workshops to share expectations and to set goals for the new school year.

Students also bond and build new friendships through various teambuilding, challenge, and other fun activities built into the schedule.

Juniors and seniors interested in attending a university in Montreal, Canada are invited to join a college tour organized by the school in the month of October. During this trip, students visit various institutions to learn the admission process, requirements, and the expectations of the universities in Canada.

Montreal is a popular college destination for DIS students who seek to continue their academia both in the French and English language and culture. DIS alumni attend McGill University, Université de Montréal (UdeM), and Concordia University, which are ranked among the top universities in the world in a city rated the “World’s Best Student City” in the recent year’s publications.
