In the primary grades, DIS uses the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test. This adaptive, computer-based test helps our teachers to target instruction to the unique needs of their classes. The test also allow both the parents of our students and the teachers to monitor each individual child’s progress throughout the year.
This test will continue to benefit our students by providing the teacher and the parents with a Lexile number to aid in finding appropriate books for the individual reading level of each student. The benefit of this testing is that it helps our teachers quickly identify all levels of our primary grade students, from struggling to advanced.
